## Who Am I
Hello, my name is **Dominic** and I maintain this website.
I am a licensed ham radio operator since 2019 and my callsign is **OE7DRT**.
My QTH is **[Längenfeld]**, [Tyrol], [Austria]. The locator for that is [JN57lb].
There is currently no antenna set up at my home QTH so I operate portable only
since the end of 2021 -- I've not been very active recently and I guess this will
probably not increase very much.

There is no permanent antenna setup at my home so I either operate portable somewhere
in the mountains or I sometimes push up my homebrew dipole for 20m as it does not
need much space on my small terrace.

Have a look at the pages under [/equipment/]({{< ref "/equipment/" >}}) for
an overview of the equipment that I use (or have used/had).
an overview of the equipment that I use (or have used/had). I try to fill
these pages up with useful content but for now I'm happy to have a picture on
almost every item.
I publish new articles whenever time let me do it. As I am working 10h shifts a
day on a building site I am quite worn at the end of the day and I can't gather
myself up enough to go out in the field when I'm just hungry (and tired)

## Winlink
I usually participate in the following Winlink nets:
### [Winlink Wednesday](https://winlinkwednesday.net/)
> The original Winlink Wednesday is a weekly amateur radio digital
net where check-ins are accomplished by using the Winlink (global
email via amateur radio) system.
> The primary purpose of Winlink Wednesday is to encourage the regular
use of the Winlink system among amateur radio operators by providing an
opportunity to expand their skills with Winlink, and to practice them
on a regular basis.
I think this summarizes the Winlink Wednesday pretty well.
### [WLNET-OE](https://groups.io/g/WLNET-OE)
This is a german speaking net currently maintained by Patrick, OE1LHP.
I do not have an antenna set up at my home QTH so my experience relies on my
portable operations here.
To quote the groups.io description:
## About this website
> This group is for announcements and information concerning the Winlink Net "WLNET-OE".
It represents some kind of Blackboard for those who want to participate and learn about
the use of Winlink in not only emergency communication situations.
Amateur radio operators from in and outside of Austria are encouraged to join the sessions.
To be clear: everyone is welcome, but keep in mind that the primary language will be German.
### [FFWN](https://w0rmt.net/ffwn/)
Well, I'm not so active on Mastodon (in terms of writing posts) but I
occassionally participate in the net when I find the time.
Also to quote the website:
> For those operators who are active on federated social media (the “Fediverse”;
i.e., Mastodon), there is a weekly Winlink net called the #FediFridayWinlinkNet
(or #FFWN). Any amateur operators are welcome to check-in and participate, and
also to take turns serving as net control! And be sure to follow #FFWN on Mastodon.
Find out more by following the hastag [#FFWN](https://mastodon.radio/tags/FFWN)
(example link -- follow it on an instance that you like/prefer).
## About this website and its server
My website is a **personal storage** of a set of information about many
**different things** -- mostly about **amateur radio** and **linux**'isch

_Also, keep in mind that the information on my websites could go offline at
any time (although it is online since 2019 -- I used other domain names before though)_.
### Statistics
Google Analytics (evil) and Microsoft Clarity (much evil) are common
statistic-plugins for your website. I've tried both as well as matomo. They
have one thing in common: they collect data, that I personally wouldn't want
to be collected from me. And what you don't want to be done to you…
I went with [Fathom Analytics](https://usefathom.com/) for the last year and
I am currently moving over to [Plausible](https://plausible.io/). Both are
awesome tools but for me Plausible is the better choice.
